06 Apr Sixers Convene Leadership Together Reception
The Philadelphia 76ers believe in fostering meaningful conversations across all communities and continued to do so at the Leadership Together Reception before the game on April 4 against the Brooklyn Nets.
Attendees included members of the Governor’s Advisory Commission on African American Affairs, Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs, Governor’s Advisory Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs, Mayor’s Commission on Asian American Affairs, Office of the Governor, Hotspot! Philly, Mayor’s Commission on People with Disabilities and the Mayor’s Office of Human Relations.
The attendees broke out into five discussion groups to elaborate on the topics that interested them the most. The available options for discussion were Arts, Education, Government & Civic Engagement, Economic Development and Civil Rights.
“It is imperative that our communities come together with intentionality to build solidarity,” Tiffany Chang Lawson, Executive Director of the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs, said. “Our honest dialogue cross-communities was critically important to cultivate a deeper understanding of what true cross-community solidarity looks like within our diverse communities.”
Across the course of the season, the Sixers have hosted a series of Leadership Together events designed to strengthen and deepen the relationships in our diverse communities. The platform has evolved over the year as the Sixers adapt to best respond to the needs of our communities.
All guests were invited to continue networking and building relationships across communities throughout the game, which tipped off after the reception.
